The Bed

Photobucket

When I first saw this bed, all I could think was, "Wow!'
It was beautiful and it just looked like so much fun,
especially for a family like ours, that always seems
to be playing musical beds at night.

As I continued to look at the picture,
I suddenly saw E,
hanging from the upper bars.

I saw GracieGirl jumping
from the upper bed to the lower.

And E following suit...

I saw lots of Matchbox cars
thrown onto the ledge on the ceiling.

I saw the ceiling become an inviting canvas
for all sorts of artwork
created by little hands.

And then, I thought about
changing the sheets.

Suddenly, the bed lost
its appeal.

It's beautiful,
but not something I'd like
in my home!

  1. good post. We do, however have loft beds. Pics are posted somewhere on my blog...Ed made them. When he did, I made sure he made it "easy" for me to change the sheets. Katie's bed has 2 sides that lift up and out so the mattress can be brought right down. Ana's mattress can be pulled down by the end where the ladder is. Ed made it so there is a latch so the wood "bars" can be opened. (for the life of me, I can't get the correct words out ~LOL~). :) I wonder if you can do all this with the bed you posted. (?)

    1. I'd vote for Ed's beds over this one! They sound great. We need to find something that works. We tried a bunk bed, but one kiddo was claustrophobic sleeping on the bottom bed, another one was determined to stand on the top bunk and rip the ceiling fan out of the ceiling (plus there was the concern that he'd figure out how to turn it on!), and I was worried about my little sleepwalkers sleeping on the top bunk. Until we come up with Plan B, they're sleeping on mattresses and box springs on the floor!

  2. My kids destroyed their loft bed...the beds, the bookshelf, the dresser, the desk, the mattresses...everything!

    1. I hear you. Our house looks like the House of Destruction, too. It's a losing battle, that's for sure.

I've missed hearing from you on your blog. Hope you're doing okay...

    1. I understand, believe me. We have the bare minimum here, and I have to make sure I don't care about anything. If I did, I'd be in a constant state of agitation!

It's good to hear from you; I miss reading your blog. Hope you're doing okay...
